Str/spd v str/def what is the changes between these battles. Str over def doesn't work why?

Say my Str is higher than there def and I attack them on the old core I won on this core I lose.

the changes that has beein done with the fighting system on this new core is
if you have a big difference in speed you will gain a boost ..2% at max...
so if 2 def whores fights and both of them has low str but awesome def...even tough the other one is 5 levels above he will loose if the lower levled one has significant more speed...
but i dont know the exact rules for the thing you were asking about westen sorry

or maybe he just won once by luck since every speed player has a 2% chance of loosing a battle to an def player cause they can get a weak first hit....

I would go with Gol's second answer for why you lost that random battle. Try again, and see what happens.
