You could actually kind of purchase a custom one by sending Dave 12k points.
People usually choose their colors in the form of a gradient though.

I kinda agree with incognito, I don’t think it would be too difficult for us to be able to change our colors ourselves. I don’t see why it’s 12k for a custom when others are 2-7k.

I believe what Incognito is getting at here is a greater variety of the single and non-gradient multi coloured options
Which seems reasonable enough to me
I think it's fine to have gradients be a bit tougher to obtain to keep them as something special, but I don't see why people can't have more of the basic options to choose from - we've had the same selection for a while now

It’s 12k for your first custom gradient and 8k once the account has had a custom any time after. It’s not that much. Custom gradients require staff work whereas the basic ones don’t. A one time 12k point charge shouldn’t be an issue, you can literally save that much in game and not spend a dime.
