About 6 years ago, I had a boyfriend that lived in a big old house, located next door from his mom's. We used to go out very often, so I would spend the night there every now and then.
One night I was there, sleeping, when I heard Julian (my ex's name) leaving the bedroom. I didn't like to stay alone there in the middle of the night coz it was one of those old noisy houses, but I wasn't going to leave the bed just because I was scared.
So I did what I always do when it happens, I pull the blanket over my head and cross my arms under my body. About 1 minute later I heard him coming back, so when I could hear him close enough to know he was already inside the bedroom I asked for him to pick a glass of water up for me.
He started to laugh, while sitting at edge of the bed and trying to tickle my feet. I got pissed off, coz I knew he was laughing at me hidden under the blankets and was trying to make me move. Then he left again.
About 5 minutes later, I heard the door downstairs close, meaning that someone was getting in or out of the house.
If I was brave, I would have called him. I was so scared I was even afraid of crying...
So I heard the usual steps walking up the stairs, and asked him (yes, I was still under the blankets!): Where were you? Who was at the door?
Then he said: I went to my mom's house grab some crackers. As he sat back in bed, he asked: why, do you want anything?
I took the blankets off of me and looked at him with that a face that is far from sweet and charming and said: my water.
He looked at me thinking *she's crazy* and said: why didn't you ask me before?
I could punch him at that moment, and I said: I did, while you were laughing at me and tickeling me, deaf jerk.
I knew at that time something was wrong because his face became really serious, and he asked me: you are kidding me, right? As I got that scared face again and he saw I wasn't kidding with with him, he said I didn't hear you asking water, Dana.
At that moment all I wanted was to hear from me it was a joke. Instead he kept quiet. I said: that first time you came up here, right after you went downstairs, that you sat at the bed and were tickeling my feet and laughing, Juls, I told you to get me a glass of water.
He stood up and just said: get ready to go home. The room was big, the only light on was from a weak bedside lamp, and I can swear, I was set and ready in 10 seconds, so he held my hand and we left the house, he drove my car to my place and came up with me, neither of us were talking.
Then when we were both sitting on the couch at my place, I was still scared, with the TV on, he said: Dana, I didn't go upstairs twice. I left and went straight away to my mom, just coming back at that time you asked me if I had brought the water.

This is a true story about my college, it happened 3 years ago to one of my very close friends who ly didn't lie about it.
Just a preface: I work and go to a school called Framingham State. It used to be an all female college for teachers. All of the buildings on campus are named after people that were highly involved in the founding of the school or were big contributors, most of these are females since it was all female up until 1964.
Anyway, at my school, every residence hall has a security desk attendant. You have to use your id to scan into the building doors, then the desk attendant checks your id and scans it again, theres someone there 24/7 unless the building is closed for holidays. If you’re not a resident of the building you need to be signed in under a host, someone that does live there.
One night, not too far into the evening, but late enough so people were coming in pretty infrequently, this older lady came into the building, she didn't have an ID but somehow managed to get inside...this can happen if you're following someone in. Anyway, my friend Dave was working at the desk. The lady said she was waiting for her daughter and she needed to pick her up since there was a family emergency.
Dave said that was okay, but he couldn't page her down since it's against school policy, so she would have to wait for her downstairs. The lady asked if she could go to the bathroom which was around the corner of the desk. The desk attendant can't see it from where they're sitting but since she was an older lady, he figured she wouldn't do anything against policy and would come right back.
After about 15 minutes, Dave realized she had never come back from the bathroom and figured she went up to her daughters room, but she had never said her daughters name, so he didn’t know which room she was in. Dave called the Resident Assistant on duty who called campus police to look for the unescorted guest. After an hour or so of looking, they couldn’t find the older lady, so campus police went back down to the office and was looking at the security tapes…They couldn’t believe what they found.
Campus Police came back up to the desk with a burned DVD of the security camera, at the time where the lady came into the building. When Dave, the RA on duty and campus police viewed the tape, there was no woman in it and Dave had been talking to himself. He still swears that he saw her and that she was there and looked like a normal human, even though we all think it is the ghost of the lady the building was named after, Dorothy Larned.

True Story
I work as a night security guard in southern U.S.A. I was watching over thre buildings all in a row. It's a rural area and the nearest house is about 1 mile away. It's so far out in the middle of nowhere that the Sheriff's make routine patrols to help discourage the local teens from hanging out and causing trouble. Anyway while walking from one building to the other I thought I saw something, but passed it off as a cyote as I hear them every night. But as I got closer to the building I felt the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and I felt a cold chill (it was summer). When I turned around the image was walking closer to me. He stopped and stared at me when he saw me looking at him, it was a confederate soldier. We stood their looking at each other for what may have been a few seconds, but felt like longer. I was so scared because up til then I didn't believe in ghosts and spirits. Once I got my bearings I ran to the building and unlocked the door as fast as I could and locked myself in. When I looked out the window he was gone.
I'm from the north and have not lived in the south long before this event. I told my supervisor what I had saw the next morning. He said the field opposite of the buildings was a little known battle ground from the civil war. He showed me where the engraved stone was at that told a brief history of the battle. I no longer work at that site, I refuse to. I was so scared I nearley s*&t my pants.
