Forum Consolidation

  1. Probably Dave @ 26 Apr 2012 11:59:57 PM
The forums have been playing a bit of musical chairs, and some are sharing a chair, others weren't lucky and were left out.

Here's an overview of who's sitting where:
    - Introductions, Non-MD are both sitting on General Chat's chair.
    - FL: Non-MD is now sitting on FL: General Chat's chair.
    - Banners is now sitting on Marketplace's chair.
    - Competitions is now sitting mostly on Marketplace's chair, but was a bit unsure, so is also sitting partially on General Chat's chair.
    - Trades was left standing, and is subsequently never allowed to play musical chairs again.

    Musical Chairs? :haha:

Is competitions so fat it needs two? You bully...thats discrimination.

Nice worded paragraph, you complaining prick.

Be more active, and maybe you wouldn't have that.

  5. Hmm @ 27 Apr 2012 12:12:41 AM
That came out different then I foresaw it to be.

    :erm:

Just a note because it's been asked a couple of times on the other servers already.

Cross-game/cross-server trading is not allowed in the forums anymore, correct. If you have trades you want to make, leave them on your profile in a way like below:

    Trading points: MD1 -> MDAU
    Trading cash: LOL -> ROFL
    etc

I don't like that this game is effectively becoming RisingGrave with all the features. There's plenty of features suggested here that wouldn't work on RG and visa versa.
They're different games, changes there don't need to happen here.

Some people don't play RG because of the differences, bringing them here won't bring activity, quite the opposite infact... unless advertisements are made... but these changes brought in today (from RG) aren't going to affect that.
  8. Toby Chambers @ 27 Apr 2012 12:22:19 AM
Oh... apart from the "_______ of the hour". That's not from RG... but it's not exactly original...

I don't like to be negative when I see changes, but some of this, I just can't find positives. I see you've spent time putting them into place, and for that, thanks. But what's the point in making X amount of small changes from other games, why not check the suggestions and find an original idea that's good and implement that?
  9. Probably Dave @ 27 Apr 2012 12:23:23 AM
The game portion of the two are entirely different, and none of the mechanics have been brought across.

Forum consolidation was needed- there were too many forums, no point in having 15 barely active forums when you can have 10 active forums.
  10. Hmm @ 27 Apr 2012 12:26:03 AM
Sorry Dave, I had to read this a few times over to understand. :haha:

No, but the idea of "No bank interest", "bank deposit fee", the new way of seeing the HOF, the _____ of the hour (I'm putting my bets on that moving to RG soon)

they've all came from RG. Small things, yeah. But these are two different games, and as it's run by the same people/person it's much more noticeable when features are rolled from one to the other. I mean, they're not major changes, but they're changes that aren't needed here. After 3 years of having it the way it was, and making it only harder to gain money is just harder for new players etc?
  12. Probably Dave @ 27 Apr 2012 12:35:10 AM
They're definitely changes that are needed here.

Stripping bank interest is the BIGGEST defense against inflation.

With close to $1,000,000,000 (yes, that's ONE billion) being added to the economy each day from bank interest alone, it needed to go.

Some things can be universally applied across games, and bank interest is one of them, and deposit fees is another.

As for the HOF, the previous HOF was mainly of benefit to the top 50 players in each of the categories. Any new players would have no reason to ever look at the HOF, and it would not only be daunting, but off-putting to them.

If you're a level 1 and go to look at the HOF and see the top person is a level 600, you're not going to be like, "Hey, that's reasonable goal I can achieve!"

Showing only those around you will give you reasonable and realistic goals that new players CAN achieve with little effort.

It is also more rewarding to see yourself move up the ladder, regardless of where you are.
  13. Toby Chambers @ 27 Apr 2012 12:46:26 AM
But the Hall of Fame should be showing the famous players... everyone looks in the HOF, you see yourself "climbing the ladder" from your homescreen where it says your position in the game, and that doesn't take out the spying in this game, the new HOF does.

yes, taking bank interest may defend against inflation, but it also makes it MUCH harder for lower levels. Those who worked hard to earn $15M, 600k each day is a lot, it helps a lot, it buys points to help them progress. $600k per day for a top player... even a level 450 player can be spent in a flash... buying the odd few points every other day from the market, getting emergency certs/kits, travelling, it all adds up quickly. But it's important for new players to help them get by.

Love it. The forum consolidation is great. I suggested doing that many, many moons ago. I'm glad to see that happen.

I'm curious to know what you have against game trading though. It would seem to me to bring more activity to each of the games. What am I missing there?
  15. Probably Dave @ 27 Apr 2012 12:50:19 AM
The new HOF doesn't take the spying out of the game. You can see who is above you, but you still don't know how many stats they have, or if they have been training that day, or whatnot.

If you don't want to spy, you don't have to- you've never had to. But you won't be as certain if you'll win or not.

You've also just made two points, and the second counters the first- firstly you said the new hof makes it easier for players, but then you've just said you don't like bank interest being removed because it makes it harder.

You also seem to forget that new players are offered points at a severely discounted rate, and even old players have the point price drastically reduced.

There's plenty of ways to make money in the game still, they're just not handed to you on a silver platter anymore, you actually have to PLAY the game.
