I don't know what dave is planning for gang wars/battles.
Also don't know this suggestion has been suggested before or not.
There should be something like "Battle Stats Calculator" in which we could compare two gangs or groups of gangs at each side and hits exchanged between them in a certain period of time.
It would work like this.

Choose Gang(s) _____________
POSITION B
Choose Gang(s) _____________
Time Period
1 Week
2 Weeks
Custom <-- We should be able to put no. of days in it.
To Calculate
1. Online Hits
2. Offline Hits
3. Online Offline Both
4. Money lost (money they lost because of attacks)
5. Experience Gained.
6. Average Hits per player.
We should be able to check our desired option(s).
And after calculation it should show us a graphs like this according to our fields selected above in "To Calculate" section.
What do you guys say? -

Add in an mutually agreed wager at the start of the war that the winner gets and this is a wicked idea +1 Makes the war worth something when points etc are at stake

yea DMD few more things could be added to spice it up.
I am not fond of graphs myself but they will show how our/there gang progressed in war.
What things need to be improved.

Again, I say no. Wars are won on more grounds than just battles won, or EXP gained, or time spent in hospitals. If you were to put in some sort of Dave-imposed system that "calculated a winner", all you'd be doing is giving more credibility to top accounts who ward level 12's consistantly. But a gang of levels 12's who hold out long enough that hitter accounts get bored with them, I'd say that means they won the war. Level 12's who are intelligent enough to win a war of words with the top hitters, I'd also say that they win.
Yes, this game needs a warring system that would allow 2 gangs to buy into a war putting up some sort of cash insentive. Yes this game needs some sort of war system in place that would require top accounts to kill top accounts, and low accounts to kill low accounts. The entire reason that wars are irrelevant, is that they're not about the gang anymore, they about the best player. That's what needs to be fixed, not bullshit statistics that could never accurately tell the story about a war.

Its a bad thing because it's completely unnecissary, and goes towards proving nothing. I think this suggestion has about as much merit, as my suggestion, that the floorboards at the bottom of the layout, should have more variation in colour and texture.
